After nearly a decade together, the football legend, now 40, asked Georgina, 31, to marry him. Rumors of an engagement began when Georgina was spotted wearing a striking diamond, though the couple had previously kept quiet, with Ronaldo once saying the timing wasn’t right.
Georgina confirmed the news on social media, sharing a photo of the enormous diamond ring gleaming against white bedding as Ronaldo’s hand held hers. Her 67 million followers quickly flooded the post with praise and astonishment, some calling it “the biggest ring ever made,” while others worried such a large jewel could be easily damaged.

Jewellery expert Maxwell Stone described it as a 30-carat oval-cut diamond – far larger than the average celebrity engagement ring, which is around 4 carats, and vastly bigger than the 1-carat rings most people wear. Flanked by large side stones and likely set in platinum, the piece is both rare and extremely valuable. With Georgina’s jewellery collection already exceeding $4 million, Stone estimated this particular ring could be worth about $10 million.
Georgina celebrated the moment with the words, “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.”
The couple share two daughters – Alana, seven, and Bella, three – though Bella’s twin brother, Angel, sadly passed away at birth. Georgina also helps raise Ronaldo’s three other children – Cristiano Jr, 15, and twins Mateo and Eva Maria, both eight.
They first met in 2016 when Georgina worked at a Gucci store in Madrid. She recalled meeting Ronaldo unexpectedly as she was leaving work late, saying she felt “butterflies in my stomach.” Ronaldo, in a 2019 interview with Piers Morgan, called her “a fantastic person” and described their first meeting as “magic,” adding, “Gio is part of me. She helps me so much.”
